How We Got Here

Taber Wetz and Chris Gauvin founded Local Fractional LLC in 2024 to build a boutique fractional offering for small to mid-sized companies focused on growth. Based in Dallas, they started under the dba Dallas Fractional CFO -- but the work quickly expanded coast-to-coast.

Local Fractional moves beyond a fractional CFO services firm. It is a trusted partner that aligns businesses with leadership vision. The team specializes in EOS and similar operating systems, giving founders and operators the financial and strategic infrastructure they need to scale with confidence.

"If you want to go fast, go alone; but if you want to go far, go together."

That principle sits at the center of everything Local Fractional does. The goal is not to hand over a report and disappear. It is to embed with your team, build the systems you need, and help you execute on the plan -- together.

The Founders

Two operators who have been in the seat, built the systems, and know what it takes to scale a business the right way.

Chris Gauvin

Managing Member | Fractional CFO

Chris creates financial solutions that drive real value for small business teams. His emphasis is on agile financial management and data-driven insights -- the kind of clarity that lets owners make decisions with confidence rather than gut instinct.

He has implemented exit strategies for construction trade services businesses, bridging the gap between financial strategy and operational execution. When the numbers and the operations align, businesses grow faster and sell for more.

Taber Wetz

Managing Member | Fractional CFO

Taber is a Fractional CFO who partners with leadership teams to turn operating data into clear, confident decision-making — cash flow planning, unit economics, capital allocation, and the KPI systems that actually move the business. 20-plus years of executive roles across technology, energy, and services have given him the operator instincts that come from running leadership teams, not just attending them.

His real edge is an analytical mindset: he loves building the automations, dashboards, and scorecards that make a company’s numbers finally make sense, so leadership is not flying blind. Taber’s path into finance wound through the fine arts and design world, which is where his marketing and brand instincts come from — a secondary lens to his primary CFO engagement. He also manages Summit Fox Advisors.

  • Financial strategy, FP&A, and KPI systems for $5M–$50M businesses
  • Dashboards, automations, and scorecards that give leadership real visibility
  • Leads with disciplined short-term execution for long-term gains

Our Approach

Most consultants hand you a report and disappear. We work differently — and that difference shows up in the results.

Embedded, Not Siloed

We join your team as operating partners, not outside advisors. That means attending your meetings, learning your culture, and being accountable for outcomes the same way a full-time executive would be.

EOS and Traction Alignment

We speak EOS fluently. If you are running the Entrepreneurial Operating System or a similar framework, we plug directly into your existing rhythms — Rocks, Level 10 Meetings, Scorecards, and all.

Data-Driven Decisions

Every recommendation we make is grounded in your numbers. We build dashboards, reporting cadences, and KPI frameworks so you stop making decisions by gut feeling and start making them with confidence.

Execution, Not Just Strategy

Strategy without execution is just a document. We stay in the work with you — managing vendors, running sprints, and holding the team accountable to the plan week over week.

Strategic Advisor vs. Fractional CFO: Common Questions

What is the difference between a Strategic Advisor and a Fractional CFO?

A Strategic Advisor acts as a high-level consultative mentor for smaller companies who already have clean, up-to-date bookkeeping. For $1,500 a month, you receive up to two strategic review meetings per month to identify growth metrics. This is an advisory tier, not a fractional CFO engagement. A Fractional CFO, at $5,000–$10,000 a month flat retainer, is an embedded executive partner who handles the complex, in-the-weeds financial design — building 13-week cash flow models, managing bank lines, structuring exit strategies, and coordinating bookkeeping and controller-level support through strategic partners where needed.

Can I hire a financial consultant for $1,500/mo if my small business bookkeeping is a mess?

No. Our $1,500 Strategic Advisor tier is a low-touch advisory framework reserved exclusively for companies that maintain fully up-to-date financials. If your books require forensic clean-up, transactional restructuring, or deep accounting management, you require an embedded Fractional CFO engagement, which is $5,000–$10,000 monthly. We can coordinate bookkeeping and controller-level work through strategic partners as part of that engagement.

When should a trade owner upgrade from a strategic growth advisor to a full fractional CFO?

An operator should upgrade to a full fractional CFO when the business experiences growth strain — such as unpredictable cash slumps despite high profitability, technician retention issues tied to unmapped compensation structures, or preparation for an acquisition or exit. If you need executive-level accountability inside your weekly EOS Traction meetings, you have outgrown high-level advisory and need a fractional CFO partner.
